Introduction
Department started in 1965.The departments caters to all
ophthalmic problems and offers services to ranging from
general eye examination to treatment of complex vision
disorder. The department is committed to train residents
to meet high standards of profession. Here residents get
clinical training in both surgical and medical aspects
of ophthalmology.

Facilities
The department is well equipped to provide
comprehensive eye care facilities to the general
population. All basics and several advanced ophthalmic
instruments are available in the department. The
department provides services in the following sub

Achievements & Research
The following clinical topics are presently under study
by the department :- |

Genetic study of retinoblastoma in the region of
Chhattisgarh.

Study
of use of autologous serum eye drops in ocular surface
disorder.

Clinical study of lens induced glaucoma.
-
Ultra-Sonography-
a radiological imaging technique for evaluation of
various ophthalmic disorders.

The department regularly
presents papers and posters in the annual State and All
India conferences. In the annual conferences of All
India society 5-presentation in 2002, 4 in 2003, 6 in
2004 and 4 in 2005 had been presented.
A presentation titled “OUR EXPERIENCE IN BEAR MAULING
OCULAR INJURIES” was awarded the certificate of merit
for the best presentation in the trauma section at the
AIOS Annual Conference-2004 at Varanasi.
Presentation titled ‘SPECIALIZED OPHTHALMOLOGICAL
PHOTOGRAPHY MADE EASY INEXPENSIVE & SUITABLE FOR
AMAETURES WITH DIGITAL CAMERA” was awarded certificate
of merit for the best presentation at the miscellaneous
section in the AIOS Annual Conference2005 at Bhuneshwar.
A presentation titled “AUTOLOGOUS SERUM EYE DROPS IN
OCULAR SURFACE DISORDERS” was awarded the best paper in
Annual Conference of State Ophthalmic Society in 2005 at
Raipur.

Additional Information
The department
is committed to the prevention of Blindness Programme
through its mobile unit manned with 3 ophthalmic
surgeons and many ancillary staff . The department
conducts regular surgical and diagnostic eye camps not
only in Raipur but also in the remote district of the
Chhattisgarh state. |
